This whole house Chevy Chase renovation struck a balance between maintaining elements of the original 1915 home and a modern and functional living space. By reconfiguring the first floor and enclosing an existing balcony, we created a more open and inviting layout. The kitchen was updated with a new layout and appliances, and the stairway was improved for safety and flow. Upstairs, both bathrooms were relocated and updated, and bedrooms were reconfigured to optimize space and functionality.
The original kitchen layout felt cramped and disconnected from the backyard. By extending the back of the house by just a few feet, we created a more open and efficient kitchen with improved access to the new deck and dining area. The enclosed balcony was transformed into a cozy breakfast nook with built-in seating, adding valuable square footage to the home.
We carefully preserved many of the original architectural details of this charming 1915 home, blending them with modern finishes and fixtures. The updated kitchen features sleek cabinetry, quartz countertops, and stainless steel appliances. The bathrooms showcase a mix of classic and contemporary elements, with updated fixtures and tilework. Throughout the home, we used a neutral color palette to create a clean and airy atmosphere.
