This project revitalized a historic home, modernizing its layout while preserving its character. We completely overhauled the first floor, seamlessly connecting the living room, kitchen, dining room, and mudroom. The primary suite also underwent a significant renovation to optimize space and functionality.
We reconfigured the existing stairwell to connect the first floor to the finished basement. The kitchen was expanded and opened up to the dining room, incorporating a butler's pantry. A new mudroom/drop zone was created at the rear entrance. The powder room was relocated to optimize the layout. Several options were explored, including reworking the rear door and fenestration to maximize natural light and floor plan efficiency.
The design blended contemporary elements with classic details. We preserved and incorporated the historic oak wainscoting in the dining room into the new design. The kitchen was outfitted with modern appliances, including an induction cooktop and double ovens.
