JD is an experienced lead carpenter with a deep-rooted passion for carpentry and architecture. His fascination with art and how things work has driven him to explore traditional building techniques and tools. Throughout his career, JD has honed his skills and gained invaluable experience, including working on projects that challenged him to problem-solve and adhere to building codes. He also had the privilege of learning from a fourth-generation carpenter, absorbing their wisdom and expertise.
One of JD's most impactful experiences was taking a design course in Costa Rica, where he developed a project for a seaside observatory. This project ignited his creativity and made him reflect on his career path. JD' brings his commitment to detail and focus on creating spaces that bring joy and satisfaction to each client project her works on. He values collaboration and communication, ensuring clients feels valued and involved in the process.
At Landis, JD is proud of the positive impact he has made, both through his work and the relationships he has built. He cherishes the supportive environment and the opportunities to learn and grow. His favorite architectural styles include the works of Tadao Ando, Frank Gehry, and Renzo Piano, whose focus on human experience resonates with his own approach to design.
Outside of work, JD enjoys exploring the great outdoors. An avid hiker, he's scaled the highest peak in Costa Rica multiple times and loves camping. In his downtime, he indulges in his love for film and music, with a particular preference for quality sounds. JD also enjoys trying diverse cuisines and sampling craft beers. His passion for woodworking, especially Japanese carpentry techniques, encourage his appreciation and dedication to craftsmanship.
